ESCOTT & LANCE GET FUNKY WITH JOHN BUTLER TRIO

Director duo Damon Escott and Stephen Lance have just completed a new clip for John Butler Trio. Funky Tonight is an infectious track that overwhelms Donald, a daydreaming ordinary office worker. In his dream John Butler Trio enter and jam in his inner ear. Donald is soon overcome by the tune and forced to bust out of his conservative image.
His colleagues watch in surprise as Donald dances outrageously, transforming the office into a stageā€¦ Funky Tonight was performed recently at the Make Poverty History concert held at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. Other artists featured included Pearl Jam (joined on stage by Bono), Eskimo Joe, Evermore, Hilltop Hoods, Paul Kelly, Kev Carmody and Sarah Blasko.
Escott & Lance shot the clip in Brisbane just prior to the 2006 ARIA Awards where they picked up the award for Best Music Video - the top prize in Australia for film clips.

Hey, this is an ad blog, not a vid clip blog. Kind of resent you using this space in your attempt to launch a junior director. Just do like other directors and come knocking when you've done a good ad. k?

Gee, 11:41, you're obviously a terribly important man who has directors beating a path to your door for any script that might fall from your printer.

The rest of us, however, are interested in seeing and meeting new talent. And as such we're more than happy to watch good stuff other than ads.

what is a clip if not an ad for band?

11:41 If you knew anything about making clips you'd know that these days they include the same diciplines that commercials require - only with far less budget.

In fact there are more levels of client than any agency creative would ever consider dealing with - the band, their management, the record company, the publishing company, the overseas reps, the pr company etc etc.

If the clip's worthy, say so. Dont critique it because it's a clip. BTW perhaps you should tell SHOTS to delete their clip section.

Don't mind the clip, but agree with 11:41. A bit shameless.

I never thought in my life I'd see John Butler on an advertising blog.

Although the man is alot smarter than the dumb hippy most people think he is.

11:41pm - bit sad.

As everyone else says, what's the difference? A clip displays a directors ability just as an ad does.

And what the hell are you doing up at 11:41pm writing on an 'ad' blog anyway !? Even sadder. Maybe you could perhaps direct your effort into some other field... like a life.
