McGRATH TO LEAVE PATTS Y&R ON FRIDAY

CB hears James McGrath is taking leave of his ECD gig at George Patterson Y&R Melbourne rather earlier than anticipated, so both he and Patts CEO Anthony Heraghty will be having farewell drinks tomorrow night.
The hunt is still on for McGrath's replacement.

That's what the empire does to people when they know they won't just say YES and bend over. They make them leave ASAP so that no precious stationery goes missing.

Patts have had the brewery for over 4o years. In that time they've had heaps of people work on the business and heaps of people who've done great work on the business - just like Ant, Grant and co. And believe it or not, the business has always stayed put. The odd little bit goes wandering now and again - but whenever you look up Patts client list the name Fosters/CUB has always been there. I expect that will still be the case 12 months from now. People should just take a BEX and have a good lie down. [And good luck to James and all the boys].

But Y&R isn't necessarily Patts is it?

Sure 5:05, but then again Patts was always a privately run Australian company, even the Bates bit didn't affect them too much.

However, with WPP, arguably the most ruthless holding company out there holding the reigns, it's on for young and old.

Wrong 9:12. Patts ceased to be a privately run Australian company when it became part of the Bates empire year 20+ years ago. [Somebody will know the exact date].
Then it became part of Cordiant - and all the locals who had shares here got to sit and watch the value of their shares plummet, wiped out when former management were running around the world achieving.......very little. Then they became part of PEP and PEP sold them to WPP.[The fact that former management were the biggest beneficieries of the sale is something a lot of loyal Patts people find very hard to stomach]. And whether WPP is 'the world's most ruthless holding company' or not [personally I'd rather be owned by WPP than Interpublic] - to say Patts has been a privately run company is not correct. The only way Patts was ever going to stay Aussie-operated was for Keith Cousins to never have died. James and the guys will do well. And yes, it will be a bit of a battle at Patts for a while. But they'll survive.

The exact same picture of James now appears three times on this site.

Reminds of a campaign Furby once did...

He's always pictured with his cherished, bronze MADC awards.

That's so true. This industry is so consumed with bitterness and jealousy. It's like a malignant growth. Even on a daily work level, you do some good work, and the knives come out. And, for anyone with half a brain, it's not so well hidden under a veil of 'wit'.

If you're any good, you shouldn't be so insecure!

"The hunt is still on for McGrath's replacement."

Is this another one of Lynchie's puns? (e.g. "Back to where he once belonged")

Surely not ... Adam? Lionel?
