At 24 he has 15 years experience, has he?

What sort of experience was he getting when he was 9 year old?

Oh sorry, I just noticed, he's worked with Michael Jackson.

Never mind.. ;)

BB King, Ry Cooder, Michael Jackson, Mark Knopfler and Jimmy Barnes must be honoured to be mentioned in the same sentence as Vanessa Amorosi. Now they have made it.

Unfortunately in music, it's not how old you are, it's how good.

There are hundreds of more talented guru's out there, he just got a lucky break from a very unfortunate event in his life.

You are so full of shit I can smell it from here, 4:26PM.

Yes, he had a childhood illness. And yes (maybe) that gave him a chance to meet a couple of childhood heroes (Mark Knopffler and Barnesy, via the Starlight Foundation, I think).

But if he wasn't any good, he'd have faded from public view then and there. As it is, he's continued to produce good music, to as much (if not more) critical as popular acclaim.

The "hundreds of talented gurus" you speak of may be technically proficient, and able to replicate Eddie Van Halen solos note for note in their bedrooms. But that, an original musician does not make.

He was a prodigy. I saw him jam with BB KIng when he was about 7. Saw him do an impromptu spot at a Robben Ford gig in Sydney a couple of years ago and he was far better than the headline star. Oh, please, don't ask who Robben Ford is.
